Goodbye Venice, Hello Florence..

Well, today we left Venice and headed to Florence. It was also our first experience of using one of the fast trains, a Frecciargento...sounds impressive. Again, we took the cheaper option and went 2nd class... I must admit I cannot see the point in travelling 1st class for all of the extra cost that is involved, and it is hard to see the difference.

Fast train to Florence
Pretty good setup for 2nd class!

On checking the Trenitalia web site before our trip I had noticed there were no regional trains running between Venice and Florence, so on many recommendations that we found on the Internet we had booked our tickets a month ago.

Ticket at the ready

This is just as well because on the day two other people had printed tickets from machines that put them in my seat, but the conductor said my Pre-booked ticket took precedence...thank goodness for that!

We were in Florence in just over 2 hours. we plan to stay here for a month and use it as a base to explore Florence, other towns such as Sienna, Pisa, Cortona, and San Gimignano, and of course the Tuscan countryside.
