La Spezia surprised us a little bit, we are going to use it as a base for the next couple of days, but had no real interest in looking around. However, the short walk from the station to our hotel has changed our minds, La Spezia has a really nice "feel" to it. The buildings are charming and quite classy in their own way, and the streets feel nice, it is one of those things that is hard to put you finger on, but whatever it is we both really like La Spezia.

We checked into our little B&B Hotel, Urban Chic B&B Hotel, it is pretty new and looks really good, and will be a nice place to stay while we are here, it also is central to everything in the town.

Once we had booked in, and unpacked we made our way down to the harbour, so sort out a boat ride to Portovenere. The short walk to the harbour was great passing more beautiful buildings, through a very nice park to the Esplanade and the Harbour.

We purchased our return tickets, just 14 Euros, and had a walk around the harbour area while waiting for our boat that was due in about half an hour.

Soon and boat arrived and we all boarded, when I say all I mean just a dozen or so, being later in the day the boat was close empty...great.

I went mad taking photos left, right, and centre as we made our 30 minute journey, there is just so much to see.
