We went walking around Florence today and everything was SHUT, what is going on?
So we went back to our room to check the Internet.....today is the start of Ferragosto which runs until the end of August. It is a traditional holiday dating back to the time of Emperor Augustus, gees we cannot argue with that!.
Ferragosta is the start of the Italians holiday break time and today is a National Holiday and everyone has disappeared to the beach. So apparently for the next two weeks we may find some places we want to visit, especially in smaller towns, closed.

Oh well, I suppose they have to take a break sometime, so.....Buon Ferragosto!
Don't worry, this evening we found that a good little restaurant just around the corner was open, so we did not go hungry today!
