Our Time In Toledo - Part Two

We started today with a vist next door to Santa Isabel where there are a group of Artisan Jewellery makers, it was fascinating to watch these skilled workman and the very fine detailed gold work they made....but when the hard sell started we knew it was time to move on!

Visiting The Artisan Jewellery Makers

One of the main things we wanted to do today was to visit the Jewish area of the old town, Juderia. Here we found heaps of things to take up our time.....we dropped into an Artisan Pottery maker, who uses centuries old techniques to make and decorate all of their pottery, again, it is so fascinating to watch and talk experts in their field...the big problem is ...how can we get all of this stuff home?

Just at the edge of the Jewish area in the old town is the beautiful view of the Puente San Martin, an old bridge that spans the Rio Tajo....real picture postcard stuff!

There are great buildings and antique dealers all through this area, so we had a look at a number of lovely antique items that we could not possibly afford!

As it turned out this is the first area that we drove into when we entered the old town through the Puerta Del Cambron.

We also took time to visit the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes, which is a great old church and monastery in the Jewish area.

The inside of the monastery is quite spectacular with its beautiful arched balconies and lovely gardens.

Soon we were back to exploring the streets as we made our way back up to Plaza De Zocodover and the Christmas Stalls.......guess who bought themselves some nice silver jewellery at the stalls.....no not me!!!!

From the Plaze I could see the magnificent Alcazar, which is impossible to get a decent photo of at street level...the place is just too big, and you cannot get back from it to get a good shot.

We have found that the best place to photograph the major attractions from is our hotel roof terrace, so I went up there again today to get some good daytime photos...

Just came back in from our last night out in Toledo. We went to a great little Middle Eastern restaurant, Alqahira Rincon de Oriente, which is run by a very proud owner, Fathi. We had great tasting food, a little bit expensive, but then again it does seem to be more expensive for everything here, but very very tasty, and great quality food.

Afterwards it was off to our favourite little bar, La Malquerida de la Trinidad, for a night cap. So now we are looking at going to bed, and in the morning we are off to Cordoba.
