Today was our last day in Granada, and we wanted to make it all about discovering more good places to eat, aand great dishes. Now Lesley had put it forward that we should eat in one of the top Vegetarian restaurants in Granada, Paprika. The best way to get there was straight down the main thoroughfare, Calle Gran Via De Colon...so for the first time since we have been in Granada we stepped outside of the older part of town, and were pleasantly surprised with the lovely buildings we came across, all of the way down the main road.

After just over a kilometre we turned into the base of the other end of Albayzin, and walked through the old Puerta Elvira, a gate in part of the old wall. Just behind here we found the restaurant Paprika.

Thankfully the restaurant was at the base of a very long set of steps going up into Albayzin. So we sat down to a very tasty vegetarian lunch, Lesley went for a Thai Curry, while I had a very tasty plate of Vegetarian Ravioli with a tangy peanut sauce.....I would also have to say we had one of the best salads we have had in quite a while..........so I have loaded up with vegetables and goodness....now I am ready for plenty of beer and steak...bring it on!

Tonight we had planned to go to three of the top restaurants/tapas bars in Granada, all within a couple of hundred metres of our hotel. However, tonight is Monday night...in Spain a lot of places are closed. Lucky for us the best of all of the restaurants in Granada was open, La Botilleria.
I think we mentioned once before that in Granada you will get a free tapas with each drink you order...now before going any further I have to explain one thing...once our waiter, Jose, found out that we were from Australia he made it his personal goal to ensure we had a great night, and boy we did!!!!!
We ordered white wines, red wines, local beers, sherries....oh, and a bottle of water. Throughout the night we seemed to get more tapas than ordered drinks....Jose was showing us the best of the Spanish hospitality that we have grown to love. Here are some of the tapas that we had.....Serrano Ham (this really is delicious), Almond Crusted Baked Fish, Garlic Crushed Olives, Potatoes and Slow Cooked Meat, Cheese Plate, Serrano Ham and Cheese Plate, and finally some Cheese Cake Samples. Now somewhere in amongst all of this we ordered a shared plate of Lightly Battered Artichokes with a Sweet Molasses sauce.

We had a fantastic night and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful food, wine and beer that we had, and we both agree that a big thanks (and tip) had to go to Jose.......Jose you should be nominated for waiter of the year!!!!
