We started the day at a street vendor that we discovered yesterday, that sells the best fresh organic juices...3 euros for a very big glass. The it was across the old Roman bridge, past the Mesquita, and into the old streets and their shops.......oh no...I hate shopping....so I left Lesley to it.

So for me it was off exploring the narrow streets of the old town. I had no particular agenda....just wander and enjoy. I came across some great streets and sights.........

Heading south of where I left Lesley I came across some lovely parkland and great old buildings......an old Christian Castle and the Royal Stables.

Cabellerizas Reales |
Close by to the Christian I found an old gateway that took me out of the old town and let me look back at some of the remaining old walls.

Moving to the north of the old town I came across some great looking Spanish buildings, the first was actually the Convent San Francisco a very attractive looking place, the big and colourful Plaza De La Corredera, and the remains of an old Roman Temple. After this whirlwind tour I had to head back to the shops to find Lesley and see what damage she had done!!!

We actually met up in the early afternoon, lunch time. So we headed for La Flamenka restaurant that was highly recommended.....glad we did, the food was great. We had two of the best Sangrias wwe have tasted to start with, then got stuck into some of the local dishes...we had to try the Deep Fried Aubergines and Pedro Ximinez sauce...easily as good as last night, Lesley had Coal Cod, which seems to be Cod with a squid ink batter and suace, very nice, while I had Rolled Pork Loin stuffed with Serrano Ham...you guessed it..yum!

After a very late lunch we went back to the hotel for a rest, no seriously a real rest, we were tired!!
After some emailing, phone call catchups and blogging it was time to head out for a light dinner. We headed towards the mosque and found a popular little restaurant, Bodega Rafae, in the small streets nearby. I had a very tasty Wild Boar Stew while Lesley went healthy with a bowl of Gaspachio...oh and don't forget a couple of glasses of the local wine each!

Cordoba has been so very quiet compared to other Spanish towns/cities we have visited...tonight was a Friday night, and it seemed to be us two and handful of others walking around the old town, felt quite strange. Anyway, we have had a great time here, the food has been great, the people friendly, and Lesley has spent a heap of money at the shops...that should help the local economy!!!
So tomorrow we head down to Granada for three days...I think it is our shortest drive of this Spanish car journey...thank goodness!
