Exploring Past The Old Town

To date we have not been very successful at exploring past the Old Town...once we are in it, we stay there...great place.

So today we set a path to walk around the old town and see what was on the other side. We set off the usual direction...walk down to the river, walk along it, use one of two bridges to cross to the other side..

Great Buildings Everywhere

This time we walked past the old town, avoiding any temptation to walk in!!

As soon as we passed the old town we walked into a beautiful little harbour area, there was an even bigger beach on this side with calm waters, and a large island in the bay...spectacular. We had found the beautiful Bahia de la Concha...

Views Around The Harbour

With the tide going out the sandy beach looked massive....what surprised/horrifies me was how many people were walking around in bathers/bikinis and going swimming, some appeared to be sunbathing.......itt is freezing cold...go and put some clothes on!!!

Across To The Palacio y Parque de Mirimar

The whole area bay area was surrounded by heaps of beautiful 19th century buildings that gives a wonderful feeling to this place.

Beautiful Buildings Everywhere

As usual we came across a number of really good buskers that kept you entertained as you walked around. My favourite buskers are the two guys in the photo below, everytime someone put money in their case the old guy with the hat would bend forward while still playing the tune, and check out how much you had put in...as we watched them for a while it became quite funny watching him rock back and forth...ensuring that he was being fairly paid!!!

Don Quiote

As we walked around the beach further we could seee a building on the beach itself, as it turned out it was used for many things...restaurant, gym, swimming club.....this is where those mad people kept appearing from in bathers and running to the water and swimming!!!

Old Buildings On The Beach

It was lunch time so this restaurant looked like a good choice....as it turned out it was! Would you beive we sat outside on the outdoor terrace...the sun was quite pleasant, but it did cool down while we were there!!

Lunch Time...Here Will Do!

Then it was back to the apartment with me taking photos of every building we passed...I just love the architecture here..

The Cathedral Buen Pastor

So we only have one more day left here before we hire the car and head to Burgos....not sure we want to leave though!!!!!

P.S. We have a confession...we went out late tonight and everywhere was packed.......we sold out...we had ribs, hamburgers, chips and beer at a very Spanish restaurant....Foster's Hollywood Cafe..we think it might even be a franchised chain setup....oh the guilt!

Please forgive us!!!!!!
