Well, we woke up this morning to bright blue skies, sunshine and a temperature of -4 degrees. So we jumped in the car and off we headed. About 10 minutes after leaving Burgos it got extermely foggy and very frosty.........within no time we were getting warnings about snow!!!! "Come on this is sunny Spain!!"....but around here...it Snows at this time of year!!!!
As we progressed, the weather appeared to be getting colder and there were definate signs of overnight snow!!
As we drove on you could feel it getting colder outside...easily sorted, turn up the heater!
At one time the windscreen was getting dirty, so I turned on the wipers and squirted the water...it froze on the windscreen immediately....gees this is cold!
We worked out that we drove at least 200 kilometres through this weather, we were waiting to see snow falling at any moment.
The weather just never let up. Sometimes the fog was very thick and we had to slow down considerably to safely see where we were going.
The water actually froze in the windscreen wiper water unit, so I stopped at a petrol station to clean the windscreen, here I noticed the ice build up on the wing mirrors and parts of the front of the car..."How cold was it here?????".
About 15 kilometres outside of our destination, Salamanca, the fog lifted, the frost and snow disappeared, the sun came out and we had beautiful clear blue skies,
So we pulled into a lovely sunny Salamanca for the next two days of our adventure.
