Woke up this morning to a slightly overcast and misty day, but surprisingly warm, no need for jackets (which have just arrived from the hotel in Cordoba by courier!!) just light jumpers. So after some breakfast we headed down to the river, Rio Guadalquivir, and took a walk along it. This river leads all the way to the sea almost 100 kilometres away and was used for centuries to make Seville the major Spanish port even though it is so far inland, quite amazing really.
When we walked down to the river, we came out of the old town right next to the Torre del Oro ("Gold Tower"), which is an old military watchtower built by the Almohad dynasty in order to control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir river in the 13th century...I just love seeing all of this history in Europe!

After a nice walk beside the river we headed back over the road into Santa Cruz, we walked passed the impressive looking Bull Fighting Arena....the only way you would get me into one of these is if I thought the bull had a good chance of winning!!!

We made our way back to Plaza Nueva to check out the Christmas market stalls...some really good Artisan work here..trouble is suitcases are at the limit, we cannot fit anything else in.

We then just wound our way through the wonderful Seville streets back to the hotel, a light lunch, afternoon tea, and a bit of a rest...ready to go out again tonight with our "fellow hotel stayers".

Tonight we had a great "tapas crawl" night with the group of people we have met from the hotel, namely Peter, Jaynie, and Thatch.......top people, top night.
