Our Time In Toledo - Part One

I would have to say that old Toledo town is quite different to anywhere else we have been in Spain. It is set on a hill, quite a steep hill in parts, and it is all narrow cobbled roads, it really does have a different feel. The weather is still on the cool side, but is definately warmer than Salamanca as it only goes down to -1 overnight, but we are getting beautiful sunny, blue skied days (top of 17 degrees!!!), as we always seem to get now in Spain.

Our hotel has a roof terrace and we get a really good view up into the rest of the town from there. We actually have great views of the Cathedral and the Alcazar....The Alcázar is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain. Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Charles I and Philip II of Spain in the 1540's, it looks amazing. We also look down onto the Santa Isabel Convent from which our hotel takes it's name.

We are only a stone throws away from the very imposing Cathedral that just dominates Toledo.

Views Around The Cathedral

Old Toledo is not very large, so two days gives us plenty of time to explore it. We both agree that it is a charming little town with great narrow, cobbled streets....and even when I try my best to get lost, it is impossible as you are always close to a major landmark somewhere.

Exploring The Lane Ways Of Toledo

It is nice travelling to all of these different towns at the moment and seeing their Christmas Lights...you have to agree that it does bring out the kid in everyone seeing these!!!

Still Got To Improve These Selfies!!!

As usual we have been hitting the food spots and trying out different dishes. We tried out the Catedral Restaurant the other night and I would have to say they do have some different dishes here...quite a few with Pheasant and Deer....so I gave one of the deer dishes a go and it was delicious....sorry to anyone that loves Bambi!!

We like dropping into little bars as we walk around, try a few wines and tapas and back to walking...a great way to see a town!!!

Great Little Bars All Over Toledo

We have found a little bar/cafe just around the corner from us, La Malquerida de la Trinidad...a great quirky place full of all sorts of furniture, lamposts, cheese grater lights.....love it!! They even serve a local beer called Domus that tastes great, so I am happy, Lesley is enjoying the many different Cava's here (Spanish version of Champagne).....I would have to say that the whole trip through Spain we have not had a bad Spanish wine, they are actually very good.

So we will continue exploring Toledo for another day and then it is off to Cordoba........have to say...we are just loving Spain!
