On another glorious blue skied, sunny day we headed into the old Arabic section of town, Albayzin. Where we always walk in, Plaza Neuva, it is at the base of the hill that most of Albayzin is built on. Our mission today, should we accept it, was to walk to the top to see the view across to Alhambra.....off we went.

Walking Into Plaza Neuva |
This area still has an amazing Arabic feel to it, with the shops and the restaurants, it is a great place to walk around...you really feel like you are in Morocco and not in Spain.

After a bit of huffing and puffing, and a couple of "get your breathe back" stops we reached Mirador San Nicolas, the best viewing spot in Granada. Here you look straight across to the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada mountains behind....the view is fantastic.
One problem I had in taking photos here was that at this time of year the sun is behind the Alhambra, and without a UV filter my photos are a bit bleached out

To give you some idea of what we were looking at, I have hijacked a photo from the Internet.....

A Better Quality Photo...Not Ours |
I actually managed to take a pretty good "selfie" shot, when someone else kindly offered to take a photo for us...

Just Us |
The viewing area at San Nicolas is a buzz of people....buskers, kniick-knack sellers, tourists...I would hate to see how many people get up here at any one time in the peak tourist season!!!

Mirador San Nicolas |
We caught a mini bus back down to the town as the thought of walking all the way back was exhausting enough....I do not think I will whinge again about driving in old towns after watching this driver at work...we never touched the walls once, but came so close, so many times!!!

Yep, That's The Wall Just There |
We got out near the cathedral and had a look around that part of Granada as we had not been there yet....I would have to say...very touristy...so many gimicky trinket shops!! You go down all of these great looking lane ways, but they are full of these type shops....

Plaza De Bib-Rambla |
We had to laugh when we were walking around Plaza De Bib-Rambla, we came across a couple of Unauthorised Disney characters selling all sorts of crap........poor old Winnie The Pooh and Mickey Mouse looked like they had just come off of some terrible diet!!!

Walt Disney Would Turn In His Grave |
Later in the afternoon we went 100 metres dwon the road from our apartment to a great little bar, Tragalios, which has a lovely sun filled courtyard out the back, so we passed quite a bit of time with a few wines and tapas...the great thing about Granada is that with each drink you order you get a free tapas, and they taste great!!

So tomorrow is our last day in Granada, we are thinking of hitting a few bars around here tomorrow night, should be fun.
