Up to San Vigilio

After my climb up Torre Di Gombito and my discussion with the tour guide I wanted to catch the fenucular up to San Vigilio and check out the view over Citte Alta. So Lesley and I had a light breakfast and walked through the town, and just past the bus stop (where we arrived) and through to the fenicular station.......the first one was not due to run for close to an hour!

So we decided to explore the area just outside of Citte Alta for a while. We walked through a couple of streets with beautiful houses and views and just took in the atmosphere of the place.

Eventually found oursleves at the small Botanical Gardens. It was very quiet and peaceful there with some lovely views, so we spent close to half an hour exploring before heading back to the fenicular station.

At last, here it comes!

After a very short ride we were up at San Vigilio. Actually, there is not much up at San Vigilio, just an old castle (not much to see) and some fantastic views

So we caught another fenicular back down to Citte Alta and had a light lunch and comtemplated what to do this evening.

Healthy salads for lunch

All in all, a very nice morning.

As it turned out we had a relaxing afternoon, we actually fell asleep! So that evening we decided to have a meal at La Franca, the restaurant with the waiters that I am convinced were trained by Basil Fawlty. Why? They appeared to just hate the tourists, would not smile, actually ignored you as much as they could, but with the locals they were laughing holding long conversations.....once you became aware of what they were doing it was quite funny to watch.

Nice food, but strange waiters

Then it was onto my favourite beer place in Citta Alta for a few quite ones at Osteria della Birra.

Tye only way to relax after a busy day
