Lecco Market and That House!

Every Saturday in the old rail yards in Lecco they have a food and clothing market. The fact that both of us just love seeing, tasting, and buying local produce, off we went.

It was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel, and even though we had got there early the locals had beaten us too it, the market was in full swing. As we walked around I became very aware of where we were, we were in an old rail yard, with heaps of stalls, and surrounded by the most amazing mountains, this was great!

A market with views

We wandered around taking every opportunity to check out the amazing smelling food stalls, and both ended up making some very cheap clothes purchases as we both needed more summer clothing to deal with the heat that was for sure.

Cheese, cheese, and more cheese
Fresh baked bread always smells good!

We had a good time here, but what was our most important purchase? The bread, the cheese, the meats, the clothes? No none of these! It was our answer to the Swiss Army pocket knife, the "Waiters Friend"...in the Italian wilderness we could now survive, we could open any wine and beer bottles!

The Waiters Friend can be used for anything!
Our Market purchased products Lunch

However, Lesley amazed me with finding other uses for our new Waiters Friend buy using it to cut Melon and other items while she prepared lunch from items we had bought from the market while I used it for the more simpler tasks of opening a bottle of local wine!

After lunch we went for a nice walk around the lake

The Statue Of San Nicolo In The Lake
The Treelined Lakeside Walk

After a while Lesley spotted a house that she really liked. So we sat down on a bench beside the lake in front of the house. I felt very relaxed looking out over the lake at the mountains, while Lesley was turned staring at the house. Then out it came......

"I really love this house I could see us living here"

"So what" you might say. Well Lesley had only ever said that about two houses since we have been married and in both cases we ended up buying them within two years.....Oh no, this looks very expensive, and I cannot even speak Italian very well!!!!!

Lesley's Italian Dream House

Eventually I pulled her away from the house and we made our way back to the hotel....all I could keep thinking about was "Not another mortgage".
