Exploring other parts of Citta Alta

We decided that we should explore some other parts of Citta Alta that we had not seen up to now. So our first port of call was to actually go inside some of the very old local churches and see what they looked like.

We started with the Duomo di Bergamo, a very spectacular church with amazing frescos and architectural features, the big shame was that it was forbidden to take photos. However, just around the corner they were in the middle of doing some comprehensive renovation work on another church, and although it did not look much from outside, the inside was amazing.

The incredible roof structure and frescos

From the churches we moved onto a fortress we had noticed when walking around Citta Alta the other day. It is actually called Parco della Rocca, which has a fortress that is a museum and the grounds are a Remembrance Gardens to the fallen Italians during wartime.

We made our way back to the B & B and stopped off to have some ice creams in another park nearby.

So we went back to the B & B, and had a rest and planned what we would go out to tonight.
