Using public transport to get around Milano is very easy. You have access to buses, trams, and the underground rail, as well as a variety of tickets you can purchase...we had already purchased cheaper local 3 day passes instead of the tourist Milano Card...this suited us fine. So using a combination of transport methods we moved around the city. About halfway through the day my pass decided to stop working, so I found myself jumping the turnstiles and looking around nervously waiting to get caught my the local authorities.
Our first stop. of course, was the Duomo, what a magnificent building, I could have sat studying it for hours.

Every view of the Duomo is like looking at art |

Piazza del Duomo |
One thing I had not realised was that the shopping mall, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, was off the same piazza that the Duomo was in, this made getting to see all of the sights very easy!

We went for a walk around the Duomo and just kept finding more and more buildings of interest, compared to back home the history is amazing and can be seen every few steps.

San Gottardo in Corte Church built in the early 1300's |
We took a break for a little while and sat in a little park just near the Duomo. Looking around there were photo opportunities galore..the buildings, statues, the history, just loved it.

Next we were back on the train and just a couple of stops down the line we arrived at Castello Sforzesco, an old castle that was built in the 1400's by a Milanese duke.

At the back of the castle we found a beautiful park and one of the historical gates of Milano.

Moving around the city I also became an admirer or other sights...the Milanese, and their ability to park..anywhere!

They can park the biggest of cars in the smallest of park spots |
By the end of the day we were exhausted, so that evening we had a big platter of antipasto, a few beers, and off to bed...what a great day!
