Eating Local

Tonight we decided that we wanted to try some real local Bergamo food. We had checked out a few places and decided upon Da Ornella a family run Trattoria in the Main Street of Citta Alta.

We found out that the trattoria is run by a very friendly character named Vincent, nothing was too much trouble for Vincent. We also found that he had a good sense of humour, and after chatting a while we also found out that he had relatives living in Perth, which seemed to give us some bond with him....very nice guy!

Ready to eat

So we wanted some regional food, and we got it...I ordered a Herbed Rabbit with Polenta, while Lesley ordered Stinco with Polenta........yes, I know it sounds bad, but it is actually a slow braised Pork Shank.

My meal was delivered first and looked delicious, the rabbit had been broken down to small portions and smelt fantastic.

My delicately portioned rabbit was delicious

Then Lesley's meal came out, I could not believe the size of it, had she ordered a shank or half a pig? Whatever, you could not get the grin off of her face, she thought it was so funny that her meal was so much BIGGER than mine, and it tasted great as well.

The grinning Cheshire Cat with her large portion of Pork

We washed the meals down with some nice local wine and beer, and a great night was had by all.

Trattoria da Ornella, worth a visit!

Well, we got the local food experience we wanted in a real family run Trattoria!
