Market Day At Castillonnes

Castillonnes is another of those Bstide villages we are finding around this area, and is less than a 30 minute drive from Monflanquin, and today was market day.

Before we could head off we had to first catch up with the family on Skype. We always look forward to these sessions as it is always great to talk to Jade and Nathan (our children), their partners Tom and Jordan, and of course our grand daughter, Michaela.

Michaela Can Sometimes Get a Bit Distracted

However, when you get Jade and Nathan together it always turns into a very entertaining time that would challenge Laurel and Hardy at their best....lol.

Here They Go......
Into Full Swing Now....

It was time to say our goodbyes, and get to the market....the Skype session went longer than expected (but it was so much fun) and we would only get half an hour at the market.

The market was not as big as the one at Issigeac, but was still a good one to go to.

Entering The Square and The Market

The market was setup in the great little square in the centre of the village and down one of the longer roads from the centre to the edge of the village, and had every type of food you could want.

It Stretched Further Than We First Thought

We purchased some more food for the week, had a bit of an explore of the village, and then headed home.

On the way back to our gite at Monflanquin, we stopped off at the medieval bastide town of Villareal...we had driven through this place a few times, but never stopped.

What another great looking place, and being lunch time it was quite busy. The square was full of cars, and their owners appeared to be filling all of the surrounding restaurants.....wow people!!!! Now I was cursing the people and their cars that were blocking taking some great photos....gees, its hard to keep me happy sometimes...lol.

Eventually we made our way back to our gite.....I think we may go into Monflanquin tonight for drinks....mmmm sounds like a plan.
