Exploring Some Beautiful Villages - Pujols

A little while ago we came across a web site, www.les-plus-beaux-villages-de-france.org a great web site that shows you all of the beautiful villages in France. We also picked up a brochure in Issigeac the other day that shows all of the location of the Bastide towns in this area...so we decided to go and explore some of these today.

All in all the trip was going to be around 200+ kilometres, so was going to be a good full day.

We firstly headed south to the nearby "beautiful village" of Pujols. Being only 30km away it did not take too long to get there. It was a lovely warm morning and we were heading towards a top of 29 degrees, a perfect day for touring.

Pujols Came Into View

Because Pujols is set on top of a hill we got a good view of it quite a few minutes before we actually got to it..it looked great. We parked the car and walked into the village.

It was like walking into hollywood set...everything was so perfect, and just how you may dream a little French village would look like.

It must be this time of year, there is just nobody around, just a had full of tourists at the best. We had arrived just before 11am and a few of the cafes were just setting up, and as we walked around a few little shops also opened.

Walked Through The Village To The Other Side

Lesley went into a clothes shop and I sat outside on a stone bench in the warming sun. An old local gentleman came up and started talking to me, I told him that I was from Australia and did not understand very well....so he took me by the arm and pointed towards a building opposite to where I was sitting, and and by speaking slower and using body language explained that the structure on the side of the building (up one level) was an old toilet and that it used to empty into the street.....glad I wasn't sitting under it!!!

I then went into the quaint little wine and local produce store that had just opened and had a look around..we had enough wine and produce so I had to buy a piece of the very tasty looking locally made nougat...that takes care of dessert from one evening!

After we had literally walked every lane of Pujols it was time to head off to our next destination Lauzert just over 50km further south.

But Pujols....ahhhhhh, what a truly beautiful village.
