Exploring Rome Together

Well, we might have had rain in Corfu...well at least for the last hour we were there...but Rome was still quite hot with temperatures still in the 30's.

I have to admit that we are getting used to this heat, which we have basically experienced everyday since leaving Australia....where the heck did we get the idea that Australia is so much hotter than Europe?

Before we went exploring we had to go to the bank and get some cash as funds were running a bit low. On the way we passed a furniture store with quite a few unusual items. One that caught Lesley's eye was a light made up of tea pots...I think she will be making one of these as soon as we get home.

Rome is definitely one of those cities that offers so many photo opportunities

We basically walked from the Colosseum up to the Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) also known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II) and back, taking in all of the sights on both sides of the road.

Halfway back we took a detour to a little Vespa Museum, within no time at all Lesley had her name on a 1969 model...boy she soon forgot about that teapot light fitting!!!

Lunch consisted of a couple of Panini's and water while sitting in a park overlooking the Colosseum... a bit like a dream really.

Then it was a short walk back through a couple of parks to the hotel for a couple of leg weary travellers.

For dinner we strolled a whole 100 meters down the road to a cheap, quick eats place that was full of locals.. Not a flash restaurant, just cheap and popular...25 Euros bought us both dinner, beer and wine.

The great thing was it was a short walk back and straight to bed.
