Yesterday we had a great catchup with Richard and Jackie and we sat chatting well into the wee hours...we realised that we had not actually seen each other (face to face) for about 13 years.
So last night we arranged to meet at 10am and head into the medieval centre of Sarlat to see the food market. We also needed to buy food and drink supplies for another evening of catching up!

Market All Through The Town |
As our host, David, had warned us the market was full of people, but because it was outside of the regular tourist season it really was not that bad. Before we got started we sat at a little cafe and had coffees (heart starters) before we launched into the shopping.

Coffee Time |
The place looked even more inviting with the old buildings framing the great looking food market....there was everything we could possibly want to buy for our French banquet we had planned for tonight. Lesley and Jackie were in their element as they went from stall to stall discussing the different foods and recipes...Richard and myself did the good husband thing, tagged along, and let them get on with it.

In one stall we came across the very proud owner of a number of very large truffles. You buy these things according to weight....I think the large one that he had you could easily purchases by handing over the deed to your house!!!!!

Really Big Truffle |
After a couple of hours of walking around the market, Richard and Jackie took us to one of theur favourite little restaurants and we had a great lunch of local dishes.

Nice Lunch, Great Friends |
After lunch we went our own ways for a couple of hours as we had the exciting task of catching up with our laundry....sorry no photos...after all you can only take so much excitement in one day!
Richard and Jackie came back a couple of hours later, we worked out we could get a quick visit to the Pretty Village of La Roque Gageac before we sat down to dinner, and before it got too dark......so off we went. We were there in less than twenty minutes and the initial views of this village were fantastic.
All above the village was an amazing maze of aancient cave and dwelling structures, these are most probably the most spectacular of the cliff side dwellings we have seen up to now.

So we headed back to our flat for a slap up meal, some drinking, and more catching up. Richard and Jackie had made an agreement that they would leave at 10pm so that we could all get a good nights sleep.....

Good Food, Good Wine, and Good Friends |
Time passed so quickly and Richard and Jackie ended up leaving after midnight.....oh well, we will all just be a little bit tired when we catch up tomorrow.
