Yesterday we drove the relatively small trip from Sorges to Sarlat a Caneda, but what was amazing was how much the countryside changes in that hour or so trip. I believe that this area is by far the prettiest and most spectacular we have stayed in since arriving in France.
One thing that I think we will quite enjoy about Sarlat is that it is a well known, good sized tourist town, and it appears to be full of life.
We are also only 100 metres or so from the edge of the medieval centre of the town and heaps of restaurants. So as you can imagine yesterday was all about travelling and settling into our new accommodation. We are staying in a bottom floor flat in an old building that has been very nicely renovated, this is going to make a great base for the next 9 days.

We Are In The Bottom Flat On The Left |
While today was all about exploring the medieval centre and getting to know what is on our doorstep. We have been told that there is a good sized food market on Wednesday, so guess where we will be on Wednesday morning. We have been told that it is reasonably quiet at this time of year, but market day will be packed....anyone touring the area on a bus tour will be there!

Great Buildings In The Place De LaLiberte |
The centre of town is really nice with its old squares, buildings, and great lane ways.

Great Architecture Everywhere You Look |
As there were not a lot of people around it was very easy to move around the town, and even easieer to take rreally good photos without having to wait for people to get out of the way. Sarlat has a really nice feel to it, and lots of very nice buildings......if we had the money I think lesley would have bought up half of the town!

Sarlat is not just a great place to use to explore this area (it has a number of France's Prettiest Villages around it), but it looks like it is going to be a great place to be in its own right, really think we are going to enjoy it here.
